As with all cloud hosting services, public cloud solutions are attractive to businesses because they reduce or eliminate the need to purchase and maintain on-premises IT infrastructure. Because applications and data that are stored in the cloud can be accessed through the internet, cloud hosting services also make it easy for businesses to offer remote and hybrid work options to employees. In addition, public cloud services offer the following advantages:
To understand how public cloud and private cloud differ, it is helpful to first consider what they have in common. Both private and public cloud offer on-demand, internet-mediated access to computing capabilities that are provided by IT infrastructure located elsewhere. The central difference between public cloud and private cloud emerges from tenancy practices, or who is allowed to access the IT infrastructure. In a private cloud paradigm, server access is restricted to only one customer, which is usually a business. Companies might create their own private cloud settings, housing and managing the IT infrastructure themselves. Or, companies might purchase private cloud services through a cloud hosting provider. Public cloud providers, on the other hand, typically offer multi-tenant environments, allowing multiple companies or users to access the same computing resources at the same time.
No. In a shared or multi-tenant cloud hosting environment, virtualization allows a single server to be partitioned into multiple, separate virtual machines that handle data processing for multiple customers. However, the virtualization process executed by public cloud providers includes measures that secure each customer’s data to prevent access by other customers. In Microsoft Azure environments, each customer’s data is segregated from other customers’ data through a process of logical isolation.
Public cloud and multi-cloud are both terms that are used to refer to the IT infrastructure and provider services that are associated with the public cloud. A fine difference, though, is that multi-cloud refers specifically to a customer’s use of two or more public cloud providers. For example, a company may use the Azure public cloud to access Microsoft 365 while also using another public cloud provider to access a specific customer relationship management (CRM) system or accounting software. Customers often choose multi-cloud arrangements to gain access to specific software applications or to avoid becoming locked in with a single public cloud provider.
Yes, absolutely. In fact, this is a very popular model of cloud hosting services referred to as hybrid cloud. In many cases, businesses are running legacy systems in on-premises server rooms, or have sensitive or proprietary information that they wish to store onsite. In such a situation, you would work together with our engineers to develop a cloud migration plan that involves moving only specified applications and data to the cloud. As NexusTek offers public cloud services through Microsoft Azure, and both shared and private cloud services through NexusTek Cloud, your hybrid cloud hosting options can be tailored to your company’s unique needs and preferences.
