Business Need

As a vertically integrated produce company with operations in two countries and diverse work environments, required efficient real-time communication and information access across all locations. To achieve this, they sought assistance in migrating their on-premises workloads to the cloud and a technology partner experienced in Famous, an ERP platform designed for the agriculture industry. They also needed ongoing IT support and project services for their on-premises infrastructure since they lacked an internal IT team. Examples of this support included setting up new infrastructure for a packing facility in Atlanta in 2019 and ensuring employees had easy access to IT assistance. Additionally, the company aimed to enhance its limited cybersecurity program to counter increasing cyber threats.

Solution

NexusTek facilitated the migration of the customer’s data and applications to the NexusTek Cloud, including the critical Famous ERP system. They deployed Desktop-as-a-Service and Microsoft 365 for employees, offering 24/7 help desk support and consultation for IT projects. NexusTek also enhanced the customer’s cybersecurity with measures like Barracuda email protection, multi-factor authentication, password complexity requirements, server and firewall updates, and timely hardware upgrades to bolster security and efficiency.

Results

By migrating their critical data and Famous ERP to the NexusTek Cloud, the customer achieved convenient data access and robust data protection. With NexusTek Virtual Desktops and Microsoft 365, employees gained flexibility to work from anywhere, crucial for a business spanning Canada and 20 U.S. states. This empowered all employees, from plant workers to office staff, to connect to the same network, ensuring operational efficiency.

Given the fast-paced nature of the produce business, IT uptime was paramount, and NexusTek delivered with 99.9% uptime and 24/7 help desk support. The partnership bolstered security with infrastructure updates, email filtering, and multi-factor authentication, reducing vulnerability to cyber threats. Over a decade, NexusTek provided various project services to support the customer’s growth, including configuring Salesforce and setting up IT for a new packing plant and distribution center. With NexusTek’s assistance, the customer continues to expand and evolve their infrastructure.
