In 2012, Carnegie Mellon’s Software Engineering Institute (SEI) and the U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT) recommended the 3-2-1 rule as a best practice for ensuring data resilience.5
While the 3-2-1 rule remains a fundamental principle, today’s IT environments present new challenges that demand more than redundancy. Backup isolation is critical to ensuring a threat in your live environment doesn’t destroy your ability to recover.
